Once the go-to material of landscapers in the 1970s, the use of decorative stone gradually fell out of popularity. However, stone as an accent to landscaping, or to replace other less manageable options is being used in many unique and beneficial ways. It is being used to reduce high maintenance costs and has become a solution to drought.
While the coloured gravel of the 70s isn’t likely to resurface, despite the surge in popularity for decorative stone, natural colours designed to enhance the look and feel of modern landscaping and hardscaping design are more popular than ever before.
There are many uses for the different varieties of stone, some of which include helping promote water drainage or to place in playgrounds, as well as adding to the visual appeal of walkways, driveways, pools and ponds.
